Hello Again From Beautiful Arkansas

Hello everyone. Sorry it has been so long since I last updated my blog. I am still in Ozark, AR working with Youth With A Mission as staff with the Discipleship Training School and support staff when the DTS is not running. A lot has happened since the last update. We had a crazy ice storm back in January and we had a successful DTS that started in March. They learned a lot and so did I. As a result one student was baptized before leaving for outreach. The DTS is on outreach right now in Asia. Unfortunately I was unable to go for lack of funds. Please pray for them for the enemy does not want them doing what they are there for. They come back to the states in late July.
This month we hosted Camp Manitou, with 28 noisy, busy kids. I spen the week befor it painting a room for them to stay in, plus moving a bunch of bunk beds around. 6 to 8 kids gave their lifes to the Lord. It was a lot of work but worth the effort.
The SBS "School of Biblical Studies" graduates this week. Congratulations for making it through nine months of inductive bible study. To all those who have said that it is impossible to get through the Bible, think again. These students of the SBS all have read through the entire Bible five times within nine months. A two-month SBS outreach to Asia will follow, where they will teach what they have learned. What a great God we serve who allows us to be a part of His work.

Happy 2009!

It’s a new year, a time for new opportunities. We are welcoming new staff to our team, -- Bob and Cathy Walker from Montana and returning staff Bekah Davis from Missouri. Also new staff, a student from last spring DTS, Abby Whitmore from Missouri next month. We are also expecting new students for our Discipleship Training School in the spring. Pray that God calls students here with a heart for missions and reaching the lost. Last you heard about me was that I was a student of the School of Biblical Studies. Unfortunately I was unable to raise the money I needed to complete the school. However it may be a good thing because I was asked to come back as Discipleship Training School (DTS) staff for this spring. I still need people to partner with me financially monthly. With me being on staff again I will have an opportunity to go on outreach with our DTS to an unreached people in East Asia, which I am excited about. Please pray with me on these things. Let me hear from you.

Joy To The World The Savior Reigns!

Hi, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving in November. This week in the School of Biblical Studies we are studying the Gospel according to John. Today we had the privilege of going to a local vineyard to get a better knowledge of what Jesus was talking about in John 15 Jesus is the vine and I am a branch, abiding in Him. I am also getting to see first hand how God is providing with a cafeteria project going on here on the Youth With A Mission base here in Ozark, Arkansas. During my two-hour work duty I get to be a part of the work on the cafeteria.

We all should be extra thankful during the month of December. We get to look back at what God has done for us this year and through us. We get to look back and see what we have accomplished and see all the good times we had during the year. We get to be thankful for being alive and all the blessings we have received. Especially we get to be thankful for salvation that was given to us through the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ 2000+ years ago. I hope that during this Christmas season you will reflect on what blessings you have and the wonderful gift of salvation that was given us. And as we get closer to the end of the year I hope you get to look forward to a great year of service to the Lord. May you to see great things happen in the next year. I hope that you have a great Christmas and holiday season. Remember the real reason for Christmas, the birth of our Savior.

Merry Christmas!

Happy November

It’s November already! This year has gone by so fast. Many things have changed this year even in just a few months. This last year I was living in Burley, Idaho after moving from Southern California. In February God brought me to a completely new and beautiful place, Ozark, Arkansas. I joined staff with the Youth With A Mission Discipleship Training School. One of the highlights was going on an outreach to Amazon of Colombia, Peru, and Brazil. In the last week of September God gave me an opportunity to take the first three months of a nine-month inductive bible study course called the School of Biblical Studies. I have learned a lot about: Acts, James, Titus, Philemon, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1st and 2nd Corinthians, and Galatians. My hope during this school, is to grow in a deeper relationship with my Savior and be able to serve him more with this training.
With the month of November, is the reminder that Christmas will be here before I know it. I would like to go home to visit family and friends during the two-week Christmas break. It would cost approximately $700 for a round trip ticket. Would you pray and ask the Lord if you could give towards this need. Since I am still staff here, any donations to YWAM Ozarks with a separate note indicating it is for my support.

HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING

God Is Simply Amazing!

In James 4:13-15 it says:

"Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit."

Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.

Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.""

I have heard this and read this passage many times but I can't seem to actually learn it. Four weeks ago I wanted to end my time hear in Ozark, Arkansas. I was missing home and I didn't think I had any reason for being here. However God put it on my heart to stick it out, to hang in there. So I stayed. Two weeks ago I was grounds keeping and recruiting and planning for the Spring Discipleship Training School here at Youth With A Mission Ozarks. I thought I knew what God's plans were for me. However, God can change your life in and instant. Last week I found out that somebody paid for my first semester of the School of Biblical Studies here in YWAM. I have been hoping to be able to take this school in the future but God provided away for me to do it this year. The SBS (School of Biblical Studies) is a nine month course on learning the inductive study method of the Bible. Wow! God can change your life in a second if you let Him. Wow! God is simply amazing!

India Prayer Alert

EMERGENCY PRAYER ALERT – CALL TO PRAY FOR INDIA!

Youth With A Mission staff members have been among the thousands of followers of Christ in India who are suffering under violent persecution by Hindu radicals.

The violence has increased in recent months across the nation, most particularly in the states of Orissa and Karnataka, where thousands are fleeing their homes in an attempt to escape the persecution. In the state of Orissa alone, 51 people are confirmed dead, while over 40 000 have been forced to flee their homes as gangs of Hindu radicals storm through, beating up pastors, priests and nuns, burning churches and homes and vandalizing property.

Reports have come in from over a dozen YWAM staff and students who have suffered beatings and injuries, the loss of their homes and damage to personal and ministry property. Other teams are engaged in efforts to support the refugees who are often left with nothing. All are desperately praying for God to intervene, and they are asking YWAM International to join them.

A group of 90 Christian leaders meeting last week in Mumbai felt in prayer that the situation for Indian Christians is similar to that in the book of Esther, when God’s people were also being subject to a plan of extermination. YWAM leaders from India who were at the meeting explain, “Queen Esther appeals, through Mordecai, to the people of God to go on a three day fast. The rest is history. God intervenes. That's the objective of this call to pray and fast. Accordingly we are urging all our friends to declare three days of prayer and fasting for India from Monday the 29th to Wednesday the 1st of October.

YWAM International Chairman, Lynn Green, echoes this call to prayer. “This coming Thursday is YWAM’s monthly Global Day of Prayer and our focus is on strengthening yourself in the Lord," Lynn says. "Our brothers and sisters in India are suffering in a way many of us have never faced and we must stand with them, strengthening them with our prayers as they pursue God’s purposes in that nation.”

Prayer Points for India :

1) Read Esther chapter 3 and 4 to see parallels between what is happening in India today and the enemy’s goal at that time to wipe out God’s people. Pray for “Esthers” to rise up and speak to influential people in India who can work to prevent further violence.
2) Pray that God will bless those who persecute, according to Jesus’ instructions and that they would come to faith in Jesus through the example of the believers and the supernatural intervention of the Holy Spirit
3) Pray for believers across India to be strengthened in their faith and persevere through these hardships. Pray that God would use them especially in this time, to be salt and light in India.
4) Pray for the victims of this violence, and for intervention from the Central Government to prevent further attacks. Pray for relief efforts which are assisting those who have been hurt or have lost everything.

The Show Must Go On

It is mid September, the grass is turning brown, and the leaves on the trees are changing colors. Fall has arrived. It reminds us that it is football season and the baseball World Series is on its way. Fall here at Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Ozarks in Arkansas makes us expectant of the start of the fall Discipleship Training School (DTS). Unfortunately we had to cancel this falls DTS because of lack of student applications. However the School of Biblical Studies is still going to run. I will be helping with that.

Which begs you to ask me what I am going to next. Well first off I committed to staff here for two DTS's. I have completed one school. Second there are still a lot of things to do, as far as recruit for the next school in the spring. We are planning to host an event called Mission Exposure, which will need staff. Possibly we will make a trip back down to the Amazon to work with our contact there. Whoever said we need students in order to do outreach? Pray that for us during this unusual season. Pray that the Lord draws people her for us to train in the spring DTS. Thank you, and let me hear from you.

God Bless
Jerod
